Lean/Agile Assessments & Coaching
Before you can grow, you need to know what is not working. Utilizing reference frameworks from traditional Scrum, Kanban, XP, or Scaled Agile Framework®, Trexin’s experts will dig deep to uncover any disruptive influences that are a normal part of scaling and maturity. Trexin can operate at the simplest 1-team level, or analyze the maturity of an Agile Release Train to ensure that your teams have a smooth-flowing cadence of delivering value with each release.
The goal of embracing a Lean/Agile delivery framework should be to enable the product and delivery teams to bring to market new and differentiating features to the production environment quickly and with high quality. Reacting to market conditions quickly requires a new way of thinking, and Trexin’s Agile Delivery Practice is here to help.
Rick Hailey is an experienced IT executive skilled in Agile Frameworks (Scrum, XP, SAFe), Data Administration, Program delivery, and information architecture. He holds three data centric patents for a system for creating dynamic content in the legal and financials domain. He specializes in removing impediments in large Agile efforts by applying agile teaming techniques. His teams have been recognized with industry awards including: Forbes “Best of Web” (Netradio.com), Best eDiscovery Solution (Merrill Corporation), and product of the year (Merrill DataSite).
Whether you have been sprinting for months or years, having an experienced coach collaborate with you will help you avoid common pitfalls, accelerate adoption, and create a cadence that your team can execute.
Each team is different. Prescribed approaches fail because they don’t consider the nuisances of your culture, your people, your training, or your sense of urgency. Trexin works with you in a highly collaborative framework and avoids this prescriptive approach by ensuring that we can move the needle in the areas that are most important to you.
Sprinting is an easy concept to understand, and most implementations struggle at the intersection of Product Backlog and Sprint Backlog. Creating the right dashboards that support the underlining principles and desired behaviors is not so clear-cut. Managing to the wrong KPIs can have a negative impact on the team and limit their effectiveness. Trexin understands the complex relationships between common (and often misunderstood) metrics and behaviors they drive.
Trexin’s Agile Coaches are roll-up-your-sleeves, hands on, experienced people who have practiced their craft in real world situations for many years.
We are here to help.

“Implementing solutions at the speed of business.” It’s a lofty goal that requires a different way of thinking. Old habits are hard to change, and in tough regulatory environments, may not be easy. The days of ridged 24-month product roadmaps with restrictive work breakdown structures are fading into the past at an accelerated pace as businesses recognize that the ability to reprioritize quickly due to the disruptive nature of today’s business climate demands an Agile approach to product development.
“Maximizing the amount of work not done” is a key Tennent in Agile (this is not to be confused with procrastination). Simply re-stated, it means that we need to proactively delay those actions and decisions that have a high likelihood of being altered in the future until such time that they become stable. Increasing our Agility, in part, means taking this tenant seriously and working on only the highest priority activities that have a strong likelihood of not changing. This includes not only the Stories that business develops, but also the technology enablers that Architects and Developers build known as the Architectural Runway.
Changes are made on a shorter, near-term design ‘Runway’. The shorter architectural and technical runway allows for emergent changes – as teams (product and technology) learn more from actual working software, they can pivot to leverage better, cheaper, faster alternatives without taking an expensive hit to timelines and budgets.
Trexin’s Coaches and Architects have extensive experience in this space and can help you navigate both the Architectural Runway and the Product Roadmap. Call us today to talk about your needs.

Taking Agile to the next level means realizing its efficiencies on large-scale efforts that require many Agile teams, programs of teams, or even entire value streams, while keeping everyone focused and aligned on a strategy.
The most widely-adopted framework for taking Agile to the next level is the Scaled Agile Framework® (or SAFe). SAFe provides proven, tested, and continuously updated metrics, structure, and governance to ensure unified large scale, complex application development. Trexin’s Lean Agile consultants are certified SAFe Program Consultants who are qualified to train, plan, and launch SAFe 4.0 in your product and delivery organizations.
Benefits of the approach in business terms:
Organizations that refine their agility in SAFe are better able to manage dependencies. Dependencies are what break agility and constrain delivery speed, adaptability, and flexibility potential of large scale programs & portfolios.
With this offering you can take your organization to the next level by applying the latest practices from SAFe 4.0® which includes new approaches to coordinating and aligning multiple value streams across any size organization.
Start now and continue assessing your organization on a quarterly basis utilizing SAFe where we will Increase agility, program level adaptability, and decrease time to market. We assess the three levels of the organization: the team, program and portfolio levels. The assessment will be a launching point to refine areas of opportunity via workshops, training sessions, one-on-one coaching, hands-on/in-team coaching and in-program guidance (also known as ‘player-coach’).
We will strive to uncover issues to improve portfolio and program level synchronization and alignment to ensure the highest ranked deliverables are continuously reprioritized to keep on pace with rapidly changing enterprise level priorities.
