On April 10, 2014, Trexin’s Healthcare practice leadership delivered a conference seminar entitled “How to Leverage Analytics to Transform Healthcare Delivery: Lowering the Cost of Care” at the First Illinois Chapter Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Spring Summit. Healthcare professionals from numerous provider organizations attended the seminar, which included the following learning objectives:

• Understand the dimensions of healthcare cost
• Evaluate how US costs compare to other countries
• Illustrate where the money goes
• Identify where we can impact healthcare costs
• Leverage analytics to transform healthcare delivery

Based on the analysis of Medicare claims data conducted by Walter Linde-Zwirble, Trexin’s Chief Data Scientist in Health Economics, the presentation gave a data-grounded look at the true cost and growth of healthcare in a 10-year timespan. The study concluded that with better targeted care management, providers are in a position to save up to 15% of the healthcare spend.
