MARVIN RICHARDSON

 


Marvin Richardson is a business executive and technologist with extensive and publicly recognized accomplishments. Marv’s background spans the financial and technology services industry including roles in management consulting, insurance, IT services, and software organizations. He is a member of several industry and company advisory boards and is a co-founder of the Trexin Group.

 

Marv has exemplary business management experience from his P&L leadership of consulting organizations and line leadership of IT organizations. More importantly Marv has built a strategic focus through his experience bridging business and technology for clients around the globe and leading strategy and IT business planning practices. His IT background spans the technologies of mainframe, client/server, Internet and objects and the disciplines of project management, software development, systems integration and operations.

 

PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

A recognized authority on the use of information technologies to drive business strategy, Marv was named to CTO Magazine’s “Top 25 Most Influential CTOs” list. He was also selected as InfoWorld’s “CTO of the Year” for Consulting Services in 2001. In over 20 years in the IT industry, he has become a frequent guest lecturer at industry conferences and universities, is an active member of InfoWorld’s CTO Advisory Council and has provided articles and insights for publications including BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal, InformationWeek, and CIO Canada.

 

At Trexin, Marv leads our financial services practice. He has provided interim IT executive services and has led IT Business Planning for two major insurance companies and a major US bank. For the marketing organizations of two annuity carriers, he implemented ACSI and Net Promoter survey and continuous improvement processes. Prior to co-founding Trexin, Marv was Aon’s senior executive leading application strategy and technology on a global basis. His direct responsibilities included global responsibility for Shared Services, Enterprise Architecture, and vendor management. Marv had technology leadership responsibility for a $600,000,000 outsourcing deal delivering $50,000,000/year in savings.

 

Marv has extensive experience at M&A activities and business and major project turn-around situations. In the depths of the IT industry downturn in 2002, Marv took responsibility for Lante’s eastern region operations and restored them to profitability in 6 months. He accomplished this feat while simultaneously acting as a trusted technology advisor to Lante’s largest customer and providing delivery oversight across Lante’s 400 person professional services organization.

 

Earlier, Marv was VP and CTO of EDS’s +$1 billion global e-business unit. His responsibilities included technology strategy, research and development, and technology leadership for E.solutions service offerings, alliances, and major accounts. He joined EDS though its acquisition of MCI Systemhouse, where Marv as CTO led Systemhouse’s strategic transformation from a client/server focus to an Internet business focus. Mr. Richardson also spent several years helping Oracle achieve +100% compound annual growth in the 1980’s.

 

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Mr. Richardson graduated from the University of Manitoba, Canada, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Honours) and won the Governor General’s Gold medal for the highest academic standing (straight A+) in the Faculty of Science.
